Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga
Our Ashtanga Beginners class is the ideal place to start if you’re curious about Ashtanga yoga and want to learn the foundations in a supportive, guided environment. While this is a beginners-level class, it is still a strong and dynamic practice — perfect for those who enjoy a challenge and want to build strength and stamina.
The pace is slightly slower than a traditional Ashtanga class, allowing time to break down postures, explore technique, and understand how the practice fits together.
What to Expect
Ashtanga Beginners is based on the Ashtanga Primary Series, helping you build familiarity with this traditional sequence while developing confidence and consistency.
Each class gives you the opportunity to explore:
Linked sequences of Sun Salutations
Standing and seated postures from the Primary Series
Key alignment principles
Elements of the finishing sequence, including inversions
With clear explanations and thoughtful guidance, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the structure and rhythm of an Ashtanga-based practice.
A Strong Class — With Support
This class is suitable for beginners to Ashtanga, but it is physically demanding and similar in intensity to an intermediate power yoga flow. If you’re new to yoga but enjoy moving, building strength, and being challenged, this class can be a great fit.
Equally, it’s a brilliant option if you’re returning to yoga after a break and want to re-establish strong foundations.
