Week 1 – Connecting movement and breath
A welcoming ‘warm-up’ to the course, we will cover ways to help you coordinate your mind, body and breath. Begin to discover your body through some gently flowing movements, be introduced to simple breathing and meditation techniques, and find out how we can use yoga to relax.
Week 2 – Sun Salutations
A sun salutation is a flow of postures which prepares the body for a yoga session, or can be used as a self-contained mini practice. We will run through each posture that makes up the sun salutations, covering alignment, benefits, and modifications. Gradually build your confidence and repetitions, play with pace and connection to breath.
Week 3 – Standing and seated postures
Explore common standing and seated postures; including twists, balances, backbends, and inversions. You’ll be guided in how to safely practice these postures and link them together into a flowing sequence to follow your sun salutations.
Week 4 – Your yoga practice
Bring everything together and begin to build and refine your very own yoga practice. Revisit the postures and techniques covered in weeks 1, 2 and 3, and start to cultivate your breath, strength, flexibility and mental focus. Leave feeling relaxed, invigorated and ready to continue your yoga journey!
