I’ve practiced yoga for around 15 years but in a much borader sense since moving to Leeds five years ago, and I have my 200RYT teaching certificate in Ashtanga Vinyasa from Sampoorna School in Agonda, India. I’ve got a strong interest in mobility and Vanda Scaravelli’s work, which links to my background in dance. Yoga helped me find my way through a spinal injury and I learnt a lot more about my body and my mind than in any other rehabilitation I’ve encountered.
The Vinyasa sequences I teach follow dynamic choreography, incorporating contrasts of fluid movement and transitions with Ashtanga asanas, with a strong focus on alignment which has always been important to me and is a much needed foundation for asana practice. I also teach Yin and Hatha classes, focusing more on breath work and relaxation.
I try to make my classes fun and always allow students to explore their own abilities, and focus on their breath and movement coordination, so are suitable for beginners and intermediate yogis too – everyone loves some playtime for arm balances!
