Introduction to Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slow, deeply grounding practice that focuses on long-held, passive postures close to the floor. This calming style of yoga primarily targets the lower body — including the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower spine — areas rich in connective tissue.
The practice invites stillness and patience, offering space to soften, release and turn inward.
What to Expect
In Yin Yoga, postures are held for several minutes — often up to five minutes or longer — allowing time for the body to gently open and for deeper layers of tissue to be accessed. Muscles are kept relaxed to avoid strain, encouraging a safe and mindful experience.
While Yin is largely passive, some poses may include subtle Yang elements, supporting balance and awareness throughout the practice.
A Practice of Deep Release
Yin Yoga works not only on a physical level, but also supports the nervous system and energetic body. By holding poses in stillness, the practice encourages deeper relaxation, improved joint mobility and the release of fascia.
This slower pace creates space to calm the mind, ease stress and reconnect with the breath.
